Prenatal Nutrition Books I Recommend ..

I’ve received many emails over the years asking for book recommendations. Here are a few of the books I recommend again and again. My copy of Real Food For Pregnancy by Lily Nichols has been highlighted, dog eared, and has a post-it on the meatloaf recipe that I’ve made for my family many times.

If I get an email with someone interested in working with me but ultimately my services don’t fit their budget I always recommend this book. It explains the science and research on prenatal nutrition in an easy to digest way. It also has highly nourishing recipes that you can make at home. If you are hesitant to eat organ meat but curious to try- the meatloaf recipe is for you :)

I love gifting this book to pregnant mamas to help prepare for 4th trimester. It really emphasizes the importance of keeping the first 40 days slow, protected and nurtured. It also has nourishing recipes with cooked foods. I love the beautiful stews, soups, broths which ideally is the base of postpartum nutrition. The bone broth recipe is delicious and a functional food early postpartum. My first postpartum I was so lucky to have my mom come stay with us and make me some foods from this book. Any gluten containing ingredients like tamari sauce for example can be easily swapped for a gluten free option.

This is more of a comprehensive pregnancy guide than a nutrition specific book. But it has great information on leading a healthy pregnancy with nutrition and wellness tips.
